QuickCapture is a great tool to use to collect rapid field intel with a single big button interface. The new Project User Input field is invaluable to capture data common to all intel points collected during a session.

What I would like to see is multiple Project User Input fields. So that more session specific information can be captured automatically when used in the field.

One of our uses for QuickCapture is to collect land search information. With the current situation and one Project User Input, this can be used for example to record an operator's name.

If there were multiple fields available, entered as form input perhaps at app startup, other session specific attributes could also be allocated to the data table. These could include:

  • operator name
  • team name
  • search event reference number
  • search event name

Having the capacity to automatically allocate these to all points collected would allow multiple search events to use the app concurrently and easily catalog captured data to a specific search event.

This is a great idea and would make QuickCapture much more useful.

This would be really useful for many of our QuickCapture projects. For example, we use QuickCapture with contractors who are carrying out pest weed control. Various pesticides are used for this work, and they are creating a point at every pest plant that they spray. Currently we have our QuickCapture interface set up with buttons for each species and chemical type. The single project user input field is used to specify their name and what company they work for. If they could enter what chemical they are using at the start of the session in an additional project user input field, that would greatly reduce the number of buttons on the screen and make it much easier to use.

Our organization is also desperately looking for this functionality and we're excited to hear it's planned for the August update!

Thank you!

@IsmaelChivite

Did the setting for Project User Inputs change? (If I remember correctly the setting was up here)

I can't seem to find the configuration for the Project User Input anymore:

Thanks!

Hi@Amanda__HuberYes, in this 1.10 update, the project user input option is removed from the Settings. But you can still create and edit project user inputs, this is now done through thebutton > DATA tab > data field(text-based). See this blog//www.gobook3.com/t5/arcgis-quickcapture-blog/understanding-user-inputs-in-arcgis-quickcapt...for how to configure a project user input.

We are planning to bring back the project user input setting option very soon.

Hi@Mandy_Li,

Thanks for the quick reply!

We really appreciate the ability to add additional user inputs on buttons, but there isa lotof worth in having these "global" user inputs that pass information across all buttons. Do you know the timeline for this functionality to come back?

In addition, does that mean there is currently no way to edit existing project inputs like the one in my screenshot above? Is this a bug?

Thank you,

Amanda
