Hi, another request for a basic feature from the classic map viewer that is still not available in the new map viewer: I regularly need to send out maps to clients with only a field or two of the attribute data enabled for editing. In the new map viewer, there is no way to select which fields that can allow editing or not--it is all or nothing. This very basic feature is the only thing preventing me from switching to the new map viewer. This shouldn't be hard to introduce seeing as how it has been a feature of the classic map viewer for some time. In general the new map viewer really needs to be brought up to parity with the classic map viewer in terms of features. I don't know why ESRI is pushing the new viewer so hard when it simply doesn't have the same capabilities as the old viewer, and from what I can tell it hasn't had any updates in a while. More work needs to be done on this before I, and likely others, can fully adopt the new map viewer.

@jcarlson Your comment did not work for me. It brought me to a blank white page displaying: {"status_code": 200, "status_txt": "OK", "data": { "long_url" : "

I am uploading a map from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online. In ArcPro, I have two classes grouped so they are symbolized the same and show up as just one item in the legend. When I upload the layer to ArcGIS Online, in the classic Map Viewer they are correctly grouped as one in the legend, but in the new Map Viewer's legend they are separate, though they still have the same label and symbology. Is there a way to group them in the new Map Viewer or is this yet another feature that for some reason hasn't made its way to the new Map Viewer from the old version?

I have posted about this before and I think it is absolutely silly that this feature has not been introduced into the new Map Viewer that ESRI is now pushing as the default. I simply want a way to share a map via the short URL. Map Viewer Classic has this feature when you click "Share" and it makes no sense why this has not be introduced into the new Map Viewer. I personally think it looks unprofessional to share a map with my clients where the URL has a 15+ string of numbers and letters at the end when a short URL looks so much better. To whoever ESRI staff might be seeing this: THIS IS NOT AN IDEA. THIS SHOULD BE A BARE MINIMUM FEATURE.

Hi, I believe I have a corrupt .APRX file and am looking for any help on how to restore it. On Thursday, during its automatic backup process, the program became stuck and I couldn't save my file. When I looked for information on how to troubleshoot, one piece of advice on the internet said to investigate the .backups folder, which I did, but mistakenly assumed that deleting the files in that folder might help me unstick the automatic backup and save. It did not, and instead now my project folder seems to be corrupted, showing this message: I used the newest version of ArcGIS for this project, so there's no way it was saved using a newer version. I am trying to contact my IT Admin to see if the folder (which is a Dropbox folder) can be restored from a date of before Thursday, but since it is the weekend, trying to fix it myself. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, just trying to share a map I made in the new Map Viewer by its shortened URL (example: https://arcg.is/xxxxxx). When I'm in classic mode and click "Share" it brings me to the popup where I can choose who to share it with, or there is the "Link to this map" section which has the shortened URL, but this URL only brings me to the classic map viewer. When I click "Share map" in the new map viewer, it just gives me the option to set my sharing level or group sharing level. No URL option. If I click on the map from the "Contents" tab, under "Details" there is a url sharing option, but this only directs me to the same details page where you can choose to open the map however, but not the map itself. I can also figure out how to find the URL when putting the map through an app, but unfortunately the app doesn't let me edit chosen attribute fields (or at least I don't know how to get it to let me do this), so the app doesn't really work for my purposes. So, how do I find out the shortened AGOL URL for my map using the new map viewer that brings viewers directly to the map?

Hi all, I have a Calculate Field/Python question. I need to apply fuzzy logic to match addresses. I have two fields, both are for street numbers. I need a script that calculates how many numbers are off between the two fields in terms of number placement, not subtraction. So if one field is 831 and the second field is 842, the result calculation (in a third field) would be 2, because the second and third place numbers are different. If all numbers were different, it would be 3, if none were different it would be 0. I'm a super newb when it comes to Python but I do have some working knowledge, just not sure how to conceptualize this. Can anyone suggest a way of going about this task using Python and the Calculate Field option? Open to other options as well. Thank you.

Hello, the goal of what I am trying to accomplish is to subtract the elevation values of one raster from another. I have a .tif file of one raster, and for the other, I have a .csv with coordinates and elevation values, from which I made a point feature. I've tried two things to turn the points into a raster or other: 1)Point to Raster Point to Raster comes out the best, but some points out spread out too thin. Is there a way I can stretch values? Interpolation didn't seem to be at all what I needed but I saw some suggesting it in previous threads. Any thoughts?
